The Giving Bunny Project

The Giving Bunny Project

This is a Post from the Urban Threads Blog:  The Giving Bunny Project « StitchPunk.

I have made a few of these little bunnies myself and it is so much fun to do, especially if you hear back from the finder.

This has been a project that has long been in my head, and I’m so excited to be able to finally share it with the crafty community and see where it goes. The idea, you see, is called The Giving Bunny, and this time of year seemed the perfect time to introduce this giant collaborative project where YOU take part.

The giving bunny is just what he sounds like. He is a little bunny who is made for the sole purpose of giving away! He is a plush design that we are offering totally free, for machine embroiderers, hand embroiders and other crafty enthusiasts. The idea behind him is that you stitch up as many little adorable bunnies as your heart desires (they’re really easy to make) and then you leave them in public spaces with a little printable tag as a gift for a stranger to discover.

Can you imagine the unexpected delight of going about your day, maybe even not a very good day, and discovering this little gift left just for you? A tiny plushy bunny with a tag asking you to take him home. Maybe even a few of these people will follow the link on the bunny’s tag back here, and make one of their own to share with someone else. And thus the bunnies can spread… well, like bunnies!
It’s a small thing, but a little bit of vigilante embroidery mixed with street art, and you can spread a tiny bit of bunny shaped joy to someone you’ve never met, and maybe make what was a grey day a little brighter. Plus, with your help, this project can spread from one free design to hundreds, maybe even thousands of bunnies all across the world!
Want to make one? Of course you do! Grab your FREE machine embroidery bunny file here, or your hand embroidery bunny file here. Then follow these step-by-step instructions to make your bunny. It’s simple, and it’s tons of fun to give each one its own unique look…

Once you’ve made a bunny (or twenty) you can personalize them, dress them up, and make them your own. I made a couple of tiny scarves for a few of mine, since it is winter after all. Bunnies get cold too. You can go really crazy, stitch them in wild colors, add mustaches, hats, tattoos or bow ties. The simplicity of the bunny design leaves lots of room to make him your own. Go nuts!

Once you’re ready to share your bunnies, print out a bunch of tags on cardstock (they’re available as a PDF in EnglishSpanishFrenchItalianGerman, and Dutch — thanks, Urban Threadsters who’ve generously helped to translate!), cut them out, and attach them to your bunnies before you leave them somewhere so folks know that the bunny is theirs to take home. Be sure to name your bunny too! It gives him a personality, and it also lets people share which bunny they found if they come and leave a comment.

So, where can you leave your bunnies? Well, I went on an adventure this weekend, and here’s where some of my bunnies ventured off to…

So, start your bunny adventure here, leave a note on the map, and join in this worldwide collaborative project!
Updates! What have the Bunnies been up to since their launch? Well…
They’ve been made by the hundreds, then thousands.
They’ve been spotted on every continent, even Antarctica!
They’ve been in magazines.
And they even made it to the edge of space. Seriously.
And the bunnies go ever on…

Naked Kitty Bath & Body Limited Production

Storm and Smoke, My Babies!!

Okay, It's that time of year again, and I am making my "Naked Kitty" Products.  So Far I have formulated My "Naked Kitty Foot Scrub" and My "Naked Kitty Vanilla Mint Brown Sugar Body Scrub.

The Foot scrub helps to relieve the dry skin on your feet, elbows, and knees. This scrub is more coarse than a body or facial scrub, but, can be used on arms and body, it just depends on the sensitivity level of your skin.As you massage, you will enjoy the added benefit of the wonderful aromatic scents of Lavender oil, which aids in relaxation and the reduction of anxiety and stress, Eucalyptus oil, which aids in Concentration and Circulation. Fresh Spearmint, picked from my own garden, which helps to relieve headaches, stress, fatigue, nervous conditions and itching. Dried Calendula flowers which have been used for centuries to heal wounds and skin irritations. I also add into the mix some Biosilk silk therapy, just because I love it. You can order it here:  Naked Kitty On Etsy

All of these ingredients are mixed with Fleur De Sel (Grey Sea Salt) harvested from the Brittany region of France's Atlantic Ocean to exfoliate. It is known as the Caviar of sea salt. Avocado Oil, which relieves dryness and itching and contains high levels Vitamin E and Vitamin A and Extra Virgin Olive Oil, which plumps and moisturizes the skin with a combination of vitamin E and vitamin A.

The Vanilla Mint Brown Sugar Body Scrub is an all over scrub. Made with Turbinado (Raw) Sugar, Fresh Spearmint, Coconut Oil, Extra Virgin Olive Oil, Avocado Oil, Honey, Vanilla Essential Oil and Biosilk Silk Therapy Serum.  I pick the spearmint from my own garden.

Looks, Yummy, Huh!  It may look good enough to eat, but it does have a little Biosilk Silk Therapy in it, if it weren't for that, you probably could eat it.

The ingredients in this formula will exfoliate, moisturize, and invigorate your skin.
You can get it in my Naked Kitty Shop on Etsy

As you massage, you will enjoy the added benefit of the wonderful aromatic scent of Vanilla which improves the mood and reduces depression and Fresh Spearmint leaves, picked from my own garden, which helps to relieve headaches, stress, fatigue, and itching.

This formula also has honey. Honey has antibacterial, antifungal and antiviral properties and has been used to treat skin blemishes for many centuries. It is also an antioxidant and a natural moisturizer. (I forgot to put this ingredient on the label, but it is in there)

This scrub also has Avocado Oil, which relieves dryness and itching and contains high levels Vitamin E and Vitamin A and Extra Virgin Olive Oil, which plumps and moisturizes the skin with a combination of vitamin E and vitamin A. I also put BioSilk Silk therapy Serum. For years, I would put a tiny bit on my face, it would feel a bit greasy, but, immediately absorbed into the skin leaving my skin so soft and it smells so good, so I decided to put it into my bath and body scrubs.

I will soon be creating a scrub from Himalayan Sea Salt, It  has a beautiful natural pink color

So You're Wondering How I came up with the name "Naked Kitty",   Read the story here

My Lish Storefront on Facebook

 Molon Labe! (mo-lone lah-veh)

They mean, "Come and take them!" They live on today as the most notable quote in military history. And so began the classic example of courage and valor in its dismissal of overwhelming superiority of numbers, wherein the heart and spirit of brave men overcame insuperable odds. Today, there lies a plaque dedicated to these heroes all at the site. It reads: "Go tell the Spartans, travelers passing by, that here, obedient to their laws we lie."

We have adopted this defiant utterance as a battle cry in our war against oppression because it says so clearly and simply towards those who would take our arms.

It signifies our determination to not strike the first blow, but also to not stand mute and allow our loved ones, and all that we believe in and stand for, to be trampled by men who would deprive us of our God-given - or natural, if you will - rights to suit their own ends.

This is a design that I created and really love not only because I love skull art, but for what the shirt stands for, bravery and standing your ground against the worst odds. I hand print these shirts myself using a professional heat press on high quality T shirts.

Please specify if you would prefer 100% preshrunk 6.1 oz. White Shirt or a 50//50 5.6 oz. Natural Shirt. Also, I can make these in an adult S, M, L, XL, so please specify your size. If you forget to do this, I will contact via email to get your order right. The brand may vary, but the shirt will always be of the highest quality. Thank you for checking out my item.
