New Project - Cute Hand Dyed Ombre' Cropped & Soon To be Embroidered Vest

Step One - Dying the Vest

Okay,  you know I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE big bold bright colors, and this project is no different.  I plan to do some awesome embroidery designs and some layering of fabrics, etc.  I'll Keep you posted.  Until then,
here is the First Step.  Fuschia Dye on the Top and the Bottom of the little cropped vest, leaving it white in the middle.

Sewing the embroideries

These were done in a quilt layering style, quilt batting sandwiched between two white cotton pieces, then cut out into individual pieces, and then sewn onto the vest.

Then I embroidered directly onto the jacket with these awesome designs from "Urban Threads".

This little vest is loaded with  over 100.00 worth of high quality embroideries from "Urban Threads" based upon 1.00 per 1000 stitches,
and lastly for a nice finishing touch, I lined the vest with a colorful print to cover the underside of the embroideries.

Aaaaand . . . here we have Clarissa, my son's girlfriend wearing the vest!! Soooo Cute!!!

Garden Fairy Princess Crowns

I made these for my little grand daughters.  They were so easy to make and there are several tutorials on how to make them. (http://iknowtheplansihave4you.blogspot.com/2012/07/howtomakealacecrown.html) this is the one I used.  Thanks, Jill!!
I added a structural change to mine though, I added a wire around the bottom of my crowns, and it provided more stability to the crowns.

Easter Island Head Cement Sculpture

Okay, I have finally finished My Easter Island Head Cement Sculpture. I am posting all the phases of the project:

Heavy Wire Armature stuffed with newspapers. Overlayed with hardware cloth.

This is the scratch coat before the finish of Concrete

Here he is in the first stages.  I used cement morter type s for this sculpture, The cement was laid over a handmade armature of wire with a layer of hardware cloth that was stuffed with wet newspaper.

These are photos of him after the final coat of cement smoothed and sculpted.

These are shots of the completed piece. The cement was cured for about a week, then coated with black matte paint, and then coated with a stone texture.
