Apocalyptic Fairy Wings, Revised

This is the original set with a few pics of the process

We decided to add some height because the wings were a little since they were attached to the corset. Also, Marinda thought the lower wings were too brown, So, we made a set of verticle wings and added them to the original set.  We blackened the lower set and airbrushed the upper set and WOW!!  We are pretty proud of ourselves.

Awesome Leather Apocalyptic Fairy Wings

Well, my daughter has this great leather corset that she bought, it's beautiful.  She wanted to make a skirt to go with it so she could wear it to the Renaissance Festival.  As we were making the skirt, we thought, how cool would it be to make a set of wings, leather wings?  So we tried to find leather wings on the web to get an idea of how they would look.  But, no wings, none made from leather anyway.  So, we sat down and designed a pair ourselves, and here is the result. AWESOME, huh! We think so, here are some more pics:

Here they are attached to the corset
Here they are as we were forming them

and a little more shaping  We cut the designs and the grommet holes before we did any shaping

We were amazed at how great these came out, it was our very first time working with leather, as far as working with tooling leather and shaping and manipulating it.  We love how they turned out, Can you tell?

My Trash to Treasure Swing Project.

My neighbor had this awesome swing on the street to throw away, I salvaged it, much to my husband's dismay.  I should have taken a pic of the waaaay wasted cushion cover, (It was all rotten and icky, the sun had done it's number on the fabric), but, it was after midnight when I decided to make a new cover, anyway, here it is.  I am going to pressure wash the frame, and repaint it, and it will look just like new.  I think I am going to use the stone finish on it.  What do y'all think?

Finished with the "Five Little Monkeys" Crib Quilt

embroidered squares, fills, and border words.  These embroideries take forever to create, they are so detailed right down to the little stray hairs on the monkeys.
Stitched together with Border Words
Finished Quilt With Striped Binding, There is so much stitching on this quilt, I added a serpentine stitch to the little blue border and it really added a special element to that part of the quilt.
Back of the Quilt. I LOVE this fabric, it is so fun and colorful!
Back of Quilt with Front Folded Back

This Quilt is soooo Cute, but, I won't be offering it very often and when I do, I will have to increase the price of the finished product.  I forgot how detailed and complicated this little quilt is and the time involved in creating it.  I didn't realize how much was in this quilt until I had a prospective client ask for individual blocks and when I figured out the cost, and I mean just the embroidery cost of each square, it came out to be right at 400.00. and that is at the least expensive rate of 1.00 per 1000 stitches.  That doesn't even include the cost of the fabric, time, etc.   the largest block came out to over 50.00 and the least block was 2.50.  but, added up, it comes out to a lot.  Of course, if you are really into a unique little quilt that will become an heirloom, you may be willing to pay a little more, I don't know.  Anyway, that is the story on this little quilt.  This particular quilt is headed off to Canada Monday.
